“Don’t Let a Silly Little Thing Like Reality Get In The Way”

Reality seems like one of those great unchanging things that is meant to ground us and keep us where we are forever, trudging along in the status quo.

“Get real”, they say. “Be realistic” they say. “Come back to reality”  they say. Like reality is this unrelenting millstone around our neck.

But who decides what is real? Who defines reality, and who says it cannot change?

Before he founded of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson’s ‘reality’ was that of a dyslexic kid who enjoyed breeding budgies. Now, his ‘reality’ is that of a guy who jets around the world, owns his own island, and needs the fingers of both hands to count his billions.

So why do we blindly let today’s reality become tomorrow’s?

Reality is there to be shaped, morphed and improved. Shake up your reality, change it and see what happens. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Keep going until today’s reality looks much better than yesterday’s…
